Burley House Residential Development, Burley In Wharfedale
At the beginning of December 2018, Rhodes Joinery had finally completed 86 weeks of working on this huge residential development at Burley In Wharfedale.
Burley House is a Grade 1 listed building built in 1783 by the poet Thomas Maude who was a major landowner at the time and is the oldest stately building in Burley In Wharfedale. The main house itself is bordered by Grade 2 listed buildings such as the old Coach House and stables.
Our longest running project to date and working under Ellison Construction, we have supplied a joinery package on a labour only basis. This included all the first and second fix external and internal joinery on both the existing listed buildings and the new build developments of nine houses.
We undertook a major refurbishment of the roof on the main house and existing buildings, including a full roof strip and rebuild. This included bespoke, hand made King trusses all made by our expert joiners on site and using traditional joinery methods. We also completed a full installation of traditional sash windows on the main house itself and the end result to date is absolutely stunning.
This is a project that we are incredibly proud of being able to take part in and when completely finished, the properties will eventually be sold for between 500 thousand to one million pounds each.
